Let \(X\) be a Fano manifold of index \(1\) and with the base point free anticanonical linear system \(|-K_X|\). The authors of the paper under review prove that if \(X\) is birationally superrigid then the pair \((X,\mathcal{O}_X(-K_X))\) is slope stable. The latter condition is defined in terms of the Donaldson-Futaki invariant \(\text{DF}\) with respect to the special test configurations called \textit{deformations to the normal cone}. Basically, one requires \(\text{DF}>0\) for any non-trivial such configuration, while \(\text{DF}=0\) for any product-type one \(X\times\mathbb{C}^*\). The preceding test configurations are enumerated by the ideal sheaves \(I\) on \(X\). Then, under certain assumptions on \(-K_X\), the authors provide a lower (positive) bound \(\text{DF}>C(n,\text{Sesh}(I; (X,-K_X))) =: C\) for the test configuration corresponding to \(I\), where \(C>0\), \(n:=\dim X\) and \(\text{Sesh}(I; (X,-K_X))\) is the \textit{Seshadri constant} at \(I\) with respect to \(-K_X\). (These results are based on the papers [\textit{Y. Odaka}, Osaka J. Math. 50, No. 1, 171--185 (2013; Zbl 1328.14073)] and [\textit{Y. Odaka} and \textit{Y. Sano}, Adv. Math. 229, No. 5, 2818--2834 (2012; Zbl 1243.14037)].) Finally, the above mentioned condition on \(-K_X\) reads, essentially, as the pairs \((X,D)\) are log canonical for all divisors \(D\) numerically equal \(-K_X\). This is obviously covered by the initial birational superrigidity assumption on \(X\).
