In this paper, the author constructs a new ruled surface \(\mathfrak{S}\) where Hitchin spectral curves may be realized as divisors. The surface \(\mathfrak{S}\) is constructed through elementary transformations from \(\mathfrak{R}\times\mathbb{P}^1\) where \(\mathfrak{R}\) is a Riemann surface of genus \(g>1\) and replaces the surface \(\mathbb{P}(K_{\mathfrak{R}}\oplus\mathbb{C})\) in the Hitchin system theory, where \(K_{\mathfrak{R}}\) is the canonical line bundle of \(\mathfrak{R}\). The author characterizes those Hitchin spectral curves which are divisors in \(\mathfrak{S}\) and describes the moduli space of such spectral curves. Also, the author generalizes the tangency condition in Treibich-Verdier theory (related to elliptic solitons, i.e., tangential covers over an elliptic curve) to a Hitchin system and shows that this condition describes the Hitchin divisors in \(\mathfrak{S}\). This modification of the concept of tangency and justification of why this is a right generalization of the tangency for an elliptic curve are among the main results of this paper.
