The underlying structure of the paper is a monotone metric space, i.e. a metric space equipped with a linear order fulfilling the inequality \(d(x,y) \leq cd(x,z)\) for all \(x<y<z\) and a fixed \(c>0\). Countable unions of monotone metric spaces are called \(\sigma\)-monotone spaces. Real functions, whose graphs are monotone metric spaces are studied as well as Hausdorff dimensions of their graphs. It is shown that a differentiable function has a \(\sigma\)-monotone graph. The structure of knot points for functions with such graph is also described. An example of a continuous, almost nowhere differentiable function on a unit interval with a monotone graph is constructed.
