The authors study the symplectic twistor operator \(T_s\), a symplectic analogue of the twistor operator in Riemannian spin geometry. They study the space of solutions of the equation \(T_ss=0\) on a standard symplectic space \((\mathbb R^{2n},\omega)\). They investigate the action of \(T_s\) on the space of polynomials valued in the vector space of the Segale-Shale-Weyl representation. \(T_s\) is invariant under the metaplectic Lie algebra \(\mathrm{mp}(2n, \mathbb R)\) and the authors obtain the result by investigating the interaction of \(T_s\) with the generators of \(D_s,X_s\) of the Howe dual algebra \(\mathfrak {sl}(2)\). It turns out that for \(n>1\) the solution space of \(T_s\) is isomorphic to the Segal-Shale-Weyl representation. For \(n=1\) the situation is more complicated.
