The authors investigate the geometric properties of the twistor space of a symplectic manifold by considering the bundle \(Z\) with fibre the Siegel domain Sp\((2n,\mathbb{R})/U(n)\) which exists over any symplectic \(2n\)-manifold \(M\). This leads them to recall the construction of the almost complex structure induced on \(Z\) by a symplectic connection on \(M\), and their various properties are considered. They consider in detail four examples of twistor spaces, and the relationships between the symplectomorphisms of \(M\). This leads to some results on a natural almost Hermitian structure on \(Z\), and establishes its \(n+1\) holomorphic completeness. They conclude with a vanishing theorem for the Penrose transform. Contents include: The structure of twistor space; Symplectic connections; Examples; A holomorphic map; The metric; The Penrose transform; and a twenty-two item bibliography.
