This paper mainly focuses on the boundedness and compactness of operators on the Fock space \(F_\alpha^2\) consisting of all entire functions which are square integrable with respect to the Gaussian measure \(d\lambda_\alpha(z)=\frac{\alpha}{\pi} e^{-\alpha |z|^2} dA(z)\), with \(dA\) being the area measure. Precisely, let \(\mathcal{D}\) denote a dense subspace of all finite linear span of reproducing kernels in \(F_\alpha^2\). In this paper, each linear operator \(S\) is assumed to be well defined on \(\mathcal{D}\), and \(\widetilde{S}\) denote the Berezin transform of \(S\). Let \(\|\cdot \|_p\) denote the norm in \(L^p(\mathbb{C},d\lambda_\alpha)\) with \(p\geq 1\). Define \[ U_zf(w)=f (z-w) k_z(w), \] where \(k_z\) denotes the normalized reproducing kernel at \(z\). Then \(U_z\) is a selfadjoint unitary operator and \(U_z \mathcal{D} \subseteq \mathcal{D}\). For each linear operator \(S\), write \(S_z=U_z SU_z\). It is shown by the authors that, if there exist some constants \(p\) and \(C\) with \(p>2\) and \(C>0\) such that \(\|S_z 1\|_p\leq C \) for all complex numbers \(z\), then \(S\) is bounded on \(F_\alpha^2\). Also, they prove that, if there exists some constant \(p>2\) such that \(\|S_z 1\|_p\to 0\) \((z\to \infty)\), then \(S\) is compact on \(F_\alpha^2\). On the other hand, by providing an example, it is illustrated that the converses of the above two results both are false. Also, under a mild condition, they present a criterion for the compactness of \(S\): suppose that there exist some constants \(p\) and \(C\) with \(p>2\) and \(C>0\) such that \(\|S_z 1\|_p\leq C \) for all complex numbers \(z\), then \(S\) is compact if and only if \(\widetilde{S}(z)\to 0\) \((z\to \infty)\). As mentioned by the authors, all results above remain valid in multi-variable case. In addition, their argument also works for the case of Bergman spaces on the unit ball in \(\mathbb{C}^n\), which is the context of the last section. It is worthy to point out that one of the novelties here is that Schur's test is not used in their approach.
