In the paper the classifying complements problem for associative algebras is studied. In a previous paper [\textit{A. L. Agore} and \textit{G. Militaru}, J. Algebra 391, 193-208 (2013; Zbl 1293.16026)] the author studied an analogous problem for Hopf algebras and Lie algebras. The problem is the following. Let \(A\subset E\) be a subalgebra of \(E\). Describe all \(A\)-complements of \(E\) and compute the cardinal of isomorphism classes of all \(A\)-complements of \(E\). In the paper it is proved that exactly as in the case of Hopf algebras and Lie algebras all \(A\)-complements are classified as follows. Given an \(A\)-complement \(X\). Then all other \(A\)-complements are defined by deformations of the algebra \(X\) by maps \(r\colon X\to A\). Also a cohomological-type object is constructed which parameterizes isomorphism classes of all \(A\)-complements.
