Let \((M^n,g)\), \(n\geq3\), be a smooth compact Riemannian manifold with boundary \(\partial M\) whose components are \(N_1,\dots,N_m\). Let \(A_g\) denote the Schouten tensor of \(g\) and \(\lambda (A_g)\) its eigenvalues with respect to \(g\). Let \(h_g\) denote the mean curvature of \(\partial M\) with respect to the inner normal. We denote by \(\Gamma\subset\mathbb R^n\) an open convex symmetric cone with vertex at the origin. Let \(f\) be a function defined on \(\Gamma\) satisfying certain conditions. For some given real numbers \(c_1,\dots,c_m\), consider the problem \[ \begin{aligned} &f(\lambda(A_{u^{\frac{4}{n-2}}g}))=1, \;\;\lambda(A_{u^{\frac{4}{n-2}}g})\in\Gamma \;\;\text{and} \\ &h_{u^{\frac{4}{n-2}}g}=c_k \;\;\text{on} \;\;N_k, \;\;k=1,\dots,m. \end{aligned} \] This problem is known as the fully nonlinear Yamabe problem (on manifolds with boundary). The authors prove existence and compactness of solutions to the fully nonlinear Yamabe problem on locally conformally flat Riemannian manifolds with umbilic boundary. They succeed to establish \(C^0\) bounds due to known first and second derivative estimates. The existence of solutions of this problem for non-negative \(c_k\)'s is obtained by using the degree counting formula. These results are a generalization of the compactness results on closed manifolds.
