This paper is concerned with the gradient blow-up of solutions for the Schrödinger equation \[ iu_t=\Delta u+V(x)f(|u|^2)u\quad t>0,x\in \Omega \] subject to \(u(0)=u_0\in L^2(\Omega)\). Here \(\Omega\) is either a bounded star-shaped domain or the whole space \({\mathbb R}^d\). The author provides necesary and sufficient conditions in terms of the initial data \(u_0\) such that the solution blows up in finite time. A regularization procedure is proposed and the autor describes the limit behavior of the sequence of such regularized solutions.
