In this paper the authors deal with a infinite photonic crystal that occupies a hexagonal periodic media \(\Omega=\mathbb R^2\). The problem describes the radiation in a photonic crystal of a source localized in one cell of the periodic medium. From the mathematical point of view, this means to solve a dissipative Helmholtz equation: \[ \triangle u + \rho u = f \quad \text{in } \quad \Omega \] with the assumptions that \(\rho\) is a local perturbation of a hexagonal periodic function and \(f\) has hexagonal symmetry with compact support. The result of the paper is to propose a method to solve the Helmholtz equation in the infinite domain with the preceding assumption.
