For a topological space \(X\), let \(SC_p(X)\) denote the space of all scatteredly continuous real-valued functions on \(X\) endowed with the topology of pointwise convergence. Recall that a function \(f:X\to Y\) between two topological spaces is called scatteredly continuous if, for each non-empty subset \(A\subset X\), the restriction map \(f|_A\) has some point of continuity. It is known that, when the target space \(Y\) is regular, then every scatteredly continuous function \(f\) is weakly discontinuous, i.e., for every \(\emptyset\neq A\subset X\), \(f\) is continuous in some open dense subset \(U\) of \(A\). This fact allows to see the space \(SC_p(X)\) as a linear space that contains, in particular, the space of continuous functions \(C_p(X)\). In a series of recent papers, the authors have studied some aspects of the linear-topological structure of \(SC_p(X)\) in terms of some topological cardinal invariants of \(X\). The paper under review is devoted to continue with this wide study. More precisely, the so-called \(\infty\)-convex sets of \(SC_p(X)\) are considered here, and it is proved as a main result that, if \(X\) has countable strong fan tightness, then every potentially bounded \(\infty\)-convex subset \(\mathcal{F}\subset SC_p(X)\) is weakly discontinuous (Theorem 9.1). Note that it is interesting to know whether a family \(\mathcal F\) is weakly discontinuous in \(SC_p(X)\) since, according to the nice construction given by the authors in Section 4, such an \(\mathcal F\) is in fact homeomorphic to a family of continuous functions defined on a topological space \(Z\) that is weakly (discontinuous) homeomorphic to \(X\).
