Let \(X\) be a Fano manifold of Picard number \(1\) and let \(E\) be a vector bundle of rank \(2\) on \(X\). The authors study the nef and the pseudoeffective cones of the Picard group of \(\mathbb P(E)\), in order to get conditions for the decomposability of \(E\). If \(K\) is the relative canonical bundle on \(\mathbb P(E)\) and \(H\) is the pull-back of the hyperplane bundle, the authors define the \textit{slopes} \(\tau(E)\) (resp. \(\rho(E)\)) as the unique numbers such that \(K-\tau(E)H\) is nef but not ample (resp. \(K-\rho(E)H\) is pseudoeffective but not big). Then the authors prove numerical restrictions on \(\tau(E),\rho(E)\), for indecomposable bundles \(E\). Consequences of these restrictions spread some light on the behavior of rank \(2\) bundles on Fano manifolds. For instance, the authors prove that when the Betti number \(b_4(X)\) is \(1\), then any indecomposable rank \(2\) bundle on \(X\) is stable (with one exception on \(\mathbb P^2\)). Under the same assumption, the authors provide a classification of all uniform indecomposable rank \(2\) bundles.
