A (mathematical) instanton bundle on complex projective 3-space is a vector bundle \({\mathcal E}\) of rank \(2\) with \(c_1({\mathcal E})=0\) and \(H^1({\mathcal E}(-2))=0\). The author studies \(G\)-homogeneous instanton bundles on \({\mathbb P}^3 = {\mathbb P}(V)\), where \(G\) is a simple complex Lie group acting linearly on \(V\) with an open orbit in \({\mathbb P}^3\). Only if \(G\) is \(\text{ Sp}(2)\) or \(\text{ SL}(2)\), there exist homogeneous instantons. If \(G=\text{ Sp}(2)\), the homogeneous instanton bundles are the well studied null-correlation bundles. If \(G=\text{ SL}(2)\), there are two representations \(V\) with an open orbit in \({\mathbb P}(V)\): either \(V=U\oplus U\), where \(U\) is the \(2\)-dimensional standard representation of \(\text{ SL}(2)\), or \(V=S^3U\), the representation given by binary cubics. If \(V=U\oplus U\), the author shows that the homogeneous instanton bundles are the special instantons [see e.g. \textit{H. Spindler, G. Trautmann}, Math. Ann. 286, No. 1--3, 559--592 (1990; Zbl 0752.14014)]. The main result of the paper under review is a detailed description of all homogeneous instantons if \(V=S^3U\). These bundles are described in a very explicit manner via monads as well as through their minimal graded free equivariant resolution.
