Based on a lot of reference papers in the field of optimization of multibody systems, this work presents a general procedure for the optimization of composite material systems. The conclusion is that the numerical sensitivity analysis is not recommended for such problems. The authors propose to solve simultaneously the equations of motion and sensitivity. A complex example (satellite antenna) illustrates the advantages of the general methodology proposed in this paper.
