Let \(V\) be a vector space over an algebraically closed field with characteristic \(0\). A tridiagonal pair \(A\), \(A^*\) on \(V\) with diameter \(d\) is of Krawtchouk type if the finite sequence \(\{d-2i\}\) \((i= 0,\dots,d)\) is a standard ordering of the eigenvalues of \(A\) and also of those of \(A^*\). The authors show that, if this holds, there exists a nondegenerate symmetric bilinear form \(\langle\;,\;\rangle\) on \(V\) such that \(\langle Au,v\rangle=\langle u, Av\rangle\) and \(\langle A^*u,v\rangle=\langle u, A^*v\rangle\) for \(u,v\in V\), and that the following four tridiagonal pairs are isomorphic: \(A,A^*\); \(-A,-A^*\); \(A^*,A\); \(-A^*,-A\). The authors close with a number of related results and conjectures.
