Let \({\mathfrak L}\) be a right-invariant sub-Laplacian on a connected Lie group \(G\), and let \(S_R f= \int^R_0 dE_\lambda f\), \(R\geq 0\), denote the associated spherical partial sums, where \({\mathfrak L}= \int^\propto_0 \lambda \,dE_\lambda\) is the spectral resolution of \({\mathfrak L}\). The authors prove that \(S_R f(x)\) converges a.e. to \(f(x)\) as \(R\) tends to infinity under the assumption that \(\log(2+{\mathfrak L})f\) belongs to \(L^2(G)\). For \(G= \mathbb{R}^n\) and \(-\Delta\) the Laplacian, this result was proved by \textit{A. Carbery} and \textit{F. Soria} [Rev. Mat. Iberoam. 4, No. 2, 319--337 (1988; Zbl 0692.42001)]. A more general and shorter proof of the same fact was given by \textit{L. Colzani}, \textit{C. Meaney} and \textit{E. Prestini} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 134, No. 6, 1651--1660 (2006; Zbl 1082.42006)]. The techniques of this proof are used in the present paper to extend the result to connected Lie groups.
