The authors study the generation of nonlinear semigroups \(S\) associated with the semilinear problem \[ u^{\prime}\left( t\right) =\left( A+B\right) u\left( t\right) , \quad t>0,\;u\left( 0\right) =x\in D, \] where \(A:D\left( A\right) \subset X\rightarrow X\) is a linear operator which generates a \(C_{0}\)-semigroup on a real Banach space \(X\) and \(B:D\subset X\rightarrow X\) is a nonlinear perturbation which is continuous on level sets of \(D\) with respect to a lower-semicontinuous functional \(\varphi.\) The solution studied in this paper is the mild solution defined by the variation of constants formula. Using the discrete schemes approximation, the authors find some necessary and sufficient conditions for the generation of such a semigroup \(S.\) These conditions are connected with a subtangential condition and a semilinear stability condition in terms of a metric-like functional.
