A commutative (multiplicative) cancellative monoid \(H\) is called strongly primary if for every \(a\in H\) there exists some \(n\in\mathbb{N}\) such that every product of \(n\) non-units is divisible by \(a\). The authors investigate the arithmetic of strongly primary monoids \(H\) under the additional hypothesis that the complete integral closure of the root closure of \(H\) is a Krull monoid. In this case they prove local tameness; an important property in the theory of non-unique factorization; [see \textit{A. Geroldinger} and \textit{F. Halter-Koch}, Non-unique factorizations: a survey. Multiplicative ideal theory in commutative algebra. A tribute to the work of Robert Gilmer. New York: Springer. 207-226 (2006; Zbl 1117.13004)]. In particular, the results apply for numerical monoids and for one-dimensional local Noetherian domains.
