Let \(H\) be a commutative cancellative monoid that is not a group. The monoid \(H\) is said to be strongly primary if for each nonunit \(a\in H\), there exists a positive integer \(n\) such that \(aH\) contains all products of \(n\) non-units in \(H\). For example, the multiplicative monoid of nonzero elements of a one-dimensional local Mori domain is strongly primary. The authors study this property mainly for Puiseux monoids, that is, additive submonoids of the non-negative rationals. Among other results, they prove that a nontrivial Puiseux monoid \(H\) with a non-empty conductor \((H:\widehat H)\) is strongly porimary if and only if it satisfies the ascending chain condition on principal ideals. On the other hand, a strongly primary Puiseuc monoid has a non-empty conductor if and only if it is globally tame. The authors present an explicit construction of strongly primary Puiseux monoids, and they use it, e.g., for constructing a strongly primary Puiseux monoid that is not locally tame. The authors also investigate sets of lengths of locally tame strongly primary monoids. In Theorem 3.12 (3) (4), there is no need to assume the Continuum Hypothesis, as seen from the proof.
