The authors study existence, uniqueness, and approximation by a Newton-like method of the operator equation \(F(x) + G(x) = 0\), where \(F\) is Gâteaux differentiable and \(G\) is Lipschitz continuous on an open convex subset of a Banach space. An example is given in the space of bounded sequences. In a second part, existence and uniqueness results are provided for the generalized Euler-Lagrangian integral equation on an interval \([a,b]\) in the Sobolev space \(W^{1,1}(a,b)\).
