The author considers the following operators \[ L_n^*(f,x)=\frac{na_n}{\varphi_n(a_nx)}\sum^{\infty}_{k=0}\frac{\varphi_n^{(k)}(0)}{k!}(a_nx)^k \int_{I_{n,k}}f(t)\,dt, \quad n\in\mathbb N, \quad x>0, \] where \(I_{n,k}= [\frac{k}{nb_n},\frac{k+1}{nb_n}]\) and positive sequences \(\{a_n\}\), \(\{b_n\}\) and functions \(\{\varphi_n(x)\}\) satisfy some conditions. These operators were introduced in [\textit{V. Gupta} and \textit{N. Ispir}, Appl. Math. Lett. 18, No. 9, 1053--1061 (2005; Zbl 1088.41012)]. In the present paper the author estimates the rate of pointwise convergence of the operators \(L^*_n(f,x)\) for absolutely continuous functions \(f\) satisfying polynomial growth and having a derivative coinciding almost everywhere with a function of bounded variation on each finite subinterval of \((0,\infty)\).
