There are four known classes of dual hyperovals. The question whether these families contain dual hyperovals of polar type has already been answered for three classes. In this paper the remaining family \(\mathcal{S}^{d+1}_{\sigma,\phi}\) is investigated. This class is defined over \(\text{GF}(2)\), for every generator \(\sigma\) of the Galois group \(\text{Gal(GF}(2^{d+1})/\text{GF}(2))\), and for a bijection \(\phi\) on \(\text{GF}(2^{d+1})\) induced by an o-polyomial \(\phi(X)\) in \(\text{GF}(2^{d+1})[X]\). By an earlier result of S. Yoshiara, if \(\phi\) lies in \(\text{Gal(GF}(2^{d+1})/\text{GF}(2))\), then \(\mathcal{S}^{d+1}_{\sigma,\phi}\) is of polar type if and only if \(d\) is even and \(\sigma\phi^2=\text{id}_{\text{GF}(2^{d+1})}\). As a result of a simpler new approach, the authors prove the following more general theorem: if \(\phi(X)\) is a monomial o-polynomial, then \(\mathcal{S}^{d+1}_{\sigma,\phi}\) is of polar type if and only if \(d\) is even, \(\phi\in \text{Gal(GF}(2^{d+1})/\text{GF}(2))\), and \(\sigma\phi^2=\text{id}_{\text{GF}(2^{d+1})}\).
