Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field, and let \(A=kQ\) be the path algebra of a quiver \(Q\). The cluster category \(\mathcal C_Q\) is defined to be the orbit category of the derived category \(\mathcal D^b(A)\) of \(\text{mod}(A)\) with respect to the autoequivalence \(F=\tau^{-1}\circ[1]\), where \(\tau^{-1}\) is the inverse Auslander-Reiten translation on \(\mathcal D^b(A)\). In the paper under review the case that \(Q\) is given by a Dynkin diagram of type \(D_n\) is treated. Similarly like in [\textit{P.~Caldero, F.~Chapoton} and \textit{R.~Schiffler}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 358, No. 3, 1347-1364 (2006; Zbl 1137.16020)] (where the case \(A_n\) is treated) and following a more general idea of \textit{S.~Fomin, M.~Shapiro} and \textit{D.~Thurston} [Acta Math. 201, No. 1, 83-146 (2008; Zbl 1263.13023)] this cluster category is realized by a geometric model. The indecomposable objects correspond to tagged edges in the \(n\)-polygon with one puncture. (An edge is a homotopy class of paths between two vertices.) Irreducible morphisms between such objects are given by certain elementary moves. Morphism spaces are spanned by sequences of irreducible maps modulo explicitly described mesh relations. It is furthermore shown that the dimension of the \(\text{Ext}^1\)-space between indecomposable objects \(M\) and \(N\) equals the crossing number of the corresponding edges. Moreover, explicit descriptions of Auslander-Reiten triangles, of tilting objects (= maximal sets of noncrossing tagged edges = triangulations of the punctured polygon) and exchange pairs in the geometric model are given.
