Let \(G\) be a real algebraic group. It is shown that the primary characteristic classes of flat \(G\)-bundles can be represented by cocycles taking only finitely many values on singular simplices. This generalizes a previous result due to Gromov, who proved that bounded representatives exist. As shown by Goldman, the hypothesis that \(G\) is algebraic cannot be removed.
