      Let \(Y\) be an Enriques surface. Its universal covering space is a \(K3\) surface \(X\) and \(Y\) is the quotient of \(X\) by a fixed-point-free involution. Conversely, every quotient of a \(K3\)-surface \(X\) by a fixed point free involution is an Enriques surface. The author studies for a fixed \(K3\) surface \(X\) the number of distinct Enriques quotients \(Y\). (Two quotients \(Y_1\) and \(Y_2\) are called distinct if they are not isomorphic as abstract varieties.) This number turns out to be finite. The author proves that for each \(l\geq 0\) there exists a \(K3\)-surface with exactly \(2^{l+10}\) distinct Enriques quotients. Moreover, he constructs a \(K3\)-surface with precisely \(15\) distinct Enriques quotients. The proof is based on lattice theoretic considerations.
