In a previous paper [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 212, No. 2, 194--213 (2008; Zbl 1153.65079)], the authors characterized the spectral density functions for singular Sturm-Liouville problem \[ \begin{aligned} &-u''+qu =\lambda u,\quad a\leq x<\infty \\ &u(a)\cos \alpha +u'(a)\sin \alpha =0,\quad\alpha \in[0,\pi]\end{aligned} \] under the assumptions: \(q\in L_{1}[a,\infty)\) or \(q' \in L_{1}(a,\infty),\) \(q\in AC_{loc}[a,\infty)\) \(\lim_{x\rightarrow \infty }q(x)=0.\) Here they extend their analysis to specific classes of potential functions. General error bounds are obtained for the approximate solutions in terms of the residuals. Numerical examples are provided for each class of considered potentials to enlighten the features of the proposed approach.
