A phase field model for the electromigration of intergranular voids (Q2468800)

The paper is concerned with the study of the approximation for a degenerate Allen-Cahn/Cahn-Hilliard system coupled to a quasi-static diffusion equation to model the motion of intergranular voids. The authors show stability bounds, prove convergence and existence of a weak solution of this nonlinear degenerate parabolic system in 2D. An iterative scheme for solving the resulting nonlinear discrete system at each time level is introduced and analysed, and some numerical experiments are presented.
