Let \(U^{-}\) denote the negative part of the quantized enveloping algebra \(U\) of a Kac-Moody algebra. This algebra admits a canonical basis \(B\), that found by Lusztig and (independently) Kashiwara. Lusztig's geometric approach to the canonical basis is to identify canonical basis elements as the preimages under an isomorphism \(U^{-}\to \mathcal{K}_{Q}\) of a basis \(\mathcal{B}_{Q}\) consisting of simple perverse sheaves. The algebra \(\mathcal{K}_{Q}\) is constructed using certain perverse sheaves over the representation space \(E_{V,Q}\) where \(Q\) is a quiver whose associated Cartan matrix is that defining \(U\). A natural and important question is to characterize the elements of \(\mathcal{B}_{Q}\) using the representation theory of quivers, that is, describing the supports and local systems. This question has been answered for finite type quivers, cyclic quivers and McKay quivers (those for which every vertex is either a source or a sink), the latter in [\textit{G. Lusztig}, Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 76, 111--163 (1992; Zbl 0776.17013)]. The present work answers the above question for an arbitrary affine quiver, making use of a Hall functor recently introduced in [\textit{I. Frenkel, A. Malkin} and \textit{M. Vybornov}, Sel. Math., New Ser. 7, No. 1, 1--56 (2001; Zbl 1002.16012)]. Closely related work may also be found in [\textit{H. Nakajima}, Proceedings of the international colloquium, Mumbai, India, 2004. New Delhi: Narosa Publishing House, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research 19, 389--421 (2007; Zbl 1194.17009)].
