The paper presents a detailed analysis in \(L^\infty\) in any dimension of reflected and transmitted high frequency waves described by semi-linear symmetric hyperbolic systems, such as the Maxwell-Lorentz equations with the anharmonic model of polarization. Continuing earlier work [\textit{V. Lescarret}, Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci. 17, No. 4, 485--535 (2007; Zbl 1220.35170)], the author constructs a WKB expansion of the wave over long times and distances up to any order to get a precise approximate solution in \(L^\infty\). The analysis is carried out for a certain class of bounded wave profiles, and theorems on existence and convergence of WKB solutions are proved.
