The purpose of this paper is to provide basic tools and framework for considering a family of algebras, and to prove the strong/weak Lefschetz property for all members of the family altogether. One of the basic tools is the commutator algebra of a nilpotent matrix. In their previous papers [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 210, No. 2, 447--463 (2007; Zbl 1125.13003); J. Algebra 311, No. 2, 511--537 (2007; Zbl 1133.13021)], the commutator algebra of some commuting families of matrices in a full matrix algebra played an important role in studying commutative Artinian algebras. In this paper they treat the idea more generally. The paper contains the sections: Introduction, The commutator algebra of a nilpotent matrix, The structure of the commutator albebra of a nilpotent matrix, Application to theory of Artinian \(K\)-algebras and Examples.
