    Throughout the paper a \(C^1\) map \(f\) from the interval \(X = [0,1]\) into itself is considered. Let \(\text{Crit}(f)\) denote the set of critical points of \(f\), i.e. the set of points where \(f'\) vanishes. It is always assumed that \(f\) is \(C^3\) outside \(\text{Crit}(f)\) and for each critical point \(c\) , there exists \(C^3\) local diffeomorphisms \(\phi,\psi\) defined on a neighborhood of \(0\) with \(\phi(0)=c\), \(\psi(0)=f(c)\), and a real number \(l=l_c>1\) (called the order of \(c\)), such that \(\mid\psi^{-1}\circ f \circ \phi(x) \mid=\mid x \mid^l\) holds when \(\mid x \mid\) is small. Further let \(f\) has a Cantor attractor \(A\) (i.e. the \(A\) coincides with the \(\omega\)-limit set of a recurrent critical point \(c\)). Then the authors prove that there exists a constant \(\sigma <1\) which depends only on the number and local order of the critical points of \(f\) such that the Hausdorff dimension of \(A\) is at most \(\sigma\).
