The paper under review is a brief account of well-known results concerning the theory of Lojasiewicz exponent at infinity for complex polynomials and polynomial mappings. In particular, the author discusses elementary properties of the exponent, computational formulas, relations with the Jacobian conjecture and with the theory of critical values at infinity, applications to the gradient case, some open problems and questions, etc. The list of references contains 42 items, the most part of them were published by the author and other Polish mathematicians over the last two decades.
