Positive semigroups behave asymptotically as rotation groups (Q2481636)

The extension of the ``Perron--Frobenius theory'' for positive operators on Banach lattices due to Schaefer and Lotz has been successfully applied to the spectral theory of generators of positive \(C_0\)-semigroups by G.\,Greiner and others (around 1980). The authors of the present paper use the full power of this theory in order to characterize the asymptotic behaviour of positive irreducible \(C_0\)-semigroups in terms of solenoidal compact rotation groups. They also exhibit several concrete examples.
