Let \(M\) be an \(n\)-dimensional complex projective variety. For a line bundle \(L\) on \(M\) the volume of \(L\) is defined as \(\text{vol}(L)=\lim \sup_{k \to \infty} {h^0(M, L^{\otimes k}) \over k^n/n!}\) giving, for big line bundles, a measure for the asymptotic growth of the linear series \(| kL| \) for \(k>>0\). The paper under review introduces and study the equivariant volumes of a line bundle \(L\) on a manifold \(M\), in the presence of a linear action of a reductive group on \(M\) (for the concrete definition see Section I). It is mainly devoted to investigate which properties (finiteness, numerical nature, computation by means of the asymptotic Riemann-Roch, Fujita's approximation theorem) of the volume of line bundles are also true in the equivariant setup.
