A family of maximal \(p\to q\) norms for linear maps on matrix algebras is defined using Schatten norms. The authors prove (sub)multiplicativity of \(p\to q\) norms (for some \(p,q\)) of the tensor product of linear maps on matrix algebras in certain situations. The main necessary condition is, that at least one of the maps in question is entrywise positive (EP), i.~e.~the entries of its matrix representation in some basis are nonnegative. This condition replaces (or augments) the completely positiveness (CP) of maps which is usually used in this context. An analogues result is also shown in the infinite-dimensional setting of convolution operators on \(L^2(R)\), with the pointwise positivity of an integral kernel replacing entrywise positivity of a matrix. This result applies in particular to Gaussian bosonic channels. The multiplicativity property involving \(p\to q\) norms of CP (or EP) maps is a generalization of the additivity conjecture in quantum information theory in the context of entropy-related properties of CP trace-preserving maps, see e.~g.~\textit{G. G. Amosov} and \textit{A. S. Kholevo} [Theory Probab. Appl. 47, No. 1, 123--127 (2002; Zbl 1040.81005)]. The present paper gives some nice results in this field and indicates a new direction for possible future generalizations. The main tool in the proofs is the Hölder inequality together with some other estimates for Schatten norms. Several examples of EP and CP maps are given, ilustrating how the main theorems generalize some previously known results. The reviewer only misses some introductory explanation of the terminology for nonexperts.
