The authors study the asymptotic stability for some functional-differential equations of neutral type in a Hilbert space. The asymptotic stability is proved in critical case, when the exponential stability is not valid. The results presented in this work are very important since the difference part of the neutral equation is not assumed to be stable in the classical sense given in the book of \textit{J. Hale} and \textit{S. M. Verduyn Lunel} [Introduction to functional-differential equations. Applied Mathematical Sciences. 99. New York, NY: Springer-Verlag (1993; Zbl 0787.34002)]. The authors investigate several results about the spectral analysis of the solution semigroup. Necessary and sufficient conditions are formulated for asymptotic stability.
