This paper discusses the construction of asymptotic solutions for a two-dimensional nonlinear Hamiltonian system whose exact solutions represent a periodic motion. The nonlinearity of the system leads to difficulties in analytical studies and, as a result, almost all the known results are based on either numerical experiments or physical analysis. In this particular article, the author is interested in performing a consistent asymptotic analysis of the autoresonance problem and in a clear mathematical formulation of the conditions for autoresonance. Autoresonance is the phenomenon represented by a significant increase in amplitude of forced oscillations of a nonlinear system while the exciting force remains small. This is an interesting paper.
