The paper extends successfully a scheme of Demers, Lafrance and Myers (DLM) to the de Sitter spacetime. The work is motivated by similarities between the black holes and spacetime given by \[ ds^2=-\left(1-\frac {\Lambda}{3} r^2\right) dt^2+ \left(1-\frac{\Lambda}{3} r^2\right)^{-1} dr^2+r^2d\Omega. \] The quantum entropies due to massive scalar and Dirac fields are discussed in detail, in the second and third section, respectively. The final section summarizes the contribution with a brief discussion of the results. It is shown here that as a consequence of different spin and statistics the entropies of the two fields are different, but both can be renormalized to the Bekenstein-Hawking formula. The DLM's method based on the Pauli-Villars regularization scheme requires a further refined analysis.
