The authors consider the scattering theory for the Hamiltonian \(-\Delta-| x| ^{\alpha}-V_{\alpha}\) in \({\mathbb R}^ n,\) where \(\alpha\in(0,2],\) \(n\geq 1,\) and \(V_{\alpha}\) is a certain perturbation potential depending on the value of \(\alpha.\) The existence of Møller wave operators and their asymptotic completeness are established with the help of some Mourre estimates. The authors also define a quantity called the asymptotic velocity and analyze its spectrum. This technical paper contains the proofs of the results announced in the authors' earlier paper [C. R. Math. Acad. Sci., Paris 338, No. 6, 453--456 (2004; Zbl 1047.35115)].
