This paper deals with a variational problem of the form \[ \min \int_\Omega g(\nabla u(x))\,dx\quad \text{s.t.} \quad u(\cdot)\in \langle v,\cdot\rangle +W_0^{1,p}(\Omega), \] where \(\Omega\) is an open bounded set in \(R^n\) and the Lagrangian \(g:R^n\to R\cup \{+\infty\}\) is a nonconvex lower-semicontinuous function. The authors study the link between this variational problem and its relaxed version which consists in changing \(g\) by its convex lower-semicontinuous hull.
