    The paper deals with the integro-differential equation: \[ \epsilon^2 u_{\epsilon}''(t) + u_{\epsilon}'(t) = A u_{\epsilon}(t) + \int_0^t K(t-s)Au_{\epsilon}(s)ds + f_{\epsilon}(t),\;\;\; t\geq 0,\; \epsilon >0, \] in a Banach space, where \(A\) is the generator of a strongly continuous cosine family and \(K\) is a real-valued function. The authors prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this equation and show that, as \(\epsilon \rightarrow 0\), this solution converges to the unique solution of \[ w'(t) = Aw(t) + \int_0^t K(t-s) Aw(s)ds + f(t),\;\;\; t\geq 0. \]
