In this paper the behaviour of trajectories of a Lotka-Volterra competition system with periodic coefficients is studied when subjected to telegraph noise. The restriction of the competition parameters ensures that multiple periodic solutions are impossible. Environments are supposed to have both unpredictable and predictable aspects, and the waiting time for the occurrence of a switch from one governing Lotka-Volterra system to another is taken to follow an exponential distribution. The authors explore the complex behaviour exhibited under such conditions. An ecological system is considered as an example.
