The author considers the nonlocal evolution equation \[ \frac{\partial u(x,t)}{\partial t}=-u(x,t)+\text{tanh}(\beta\star u(x,t)+h) \] which arises in models of phase separation. Here, \(u(t,x)\) is a real function on \({\mathbb R}\times{\mathbb R}_{+},\) \(\beta>1,\) \(J\in C^{1}({\mathbb R})\) is a nonnegative even function with integral equal to \(1\) supported in the interval \([-1,1],\) \(\beta\) and \(h\) are positive constants and \(\star\) denotes convolution. The author proves that in an appropriate phase space, the system is dissipative, that is, it has a global compact attractor. Also he proves the existence of a special symmetric nonhomogeneous equilibrium known as the ``bump'' or ``critical droplet''.
