The authors study the best approximation property in normed linear spaces for ``quasi-Chebyshev subspaces'', a subspaces which already have a classical name and should be called ``\(P\)-compact subspaces'', here \(P\) is the metric projection onto a subspace \(L\), \(P\)-copmpact means that \(Px\) is always compact in~\(L\) for any point \(x\). In the paper, the authors prove some unsophisticated corollaries of the fact that the set of best approximation from a subspace is always compact.
