The authors study the distribution modulo an odd prime \(p\) of binomial coefficients \(b_n= {2n\choose n}\) and Catalan numbers \(c_n= b_n/(n+ 1)\). They estimate the number of solutions of certain congruences involving these numbers and show that both \(b_n\) and \(c_n\), take on all residue classes modulo a sufficiently large \(p\).
