Let \(R\) be a symmetric ring spectrum and \(H\subseteq G\) a finite index subgroup. Then the restriction, or transfer, map \[ \text{ Res}^H_G:\text{TH}(R[G]) \to \text{TH}(R[H]) \] is a map of cyclotomic spectra, and therefore induces a map on the \(C_r\) fixed points for any \(r\) and on \(\text{TC}\). The author analyzes the induced map on \(C_r\) fixed points completely for any \(r\). When \(R={\mathbf S}\), the sphere spectrum, he shows that \[ \text{ Res}^H_G:\text{TH}({\mathbf S}[G]) \to \text{TH}({\mathbf S}[H]) \] induces on the components corresponding to the trivial group element (which can be identified with \( \Sigma^\infty_{C_r}(BG_+)\) and \(\Sigma^\infty_{C_r}(BH_+)\), respectively) the equivariant stable transfer \[ \Sigma^\infty_{C_r}(BG_+) \to \Sigma^\infty_{C_r}(BH_+). \] This was conjectured by \textit{M. Bökstedt, W. C. Hsiang} and \textit{I. Madsen} [Invent. Math. 111, No. 3, 465--539 (1993; Zbl 0804.55004)]. The present author shows more generally that for any symmetric ring spectrum \(R\), the K-theory transfer, or restriction map \[ \text{ Res}^H_G:K(R[G]) \to K(R[H]) \] corresponds to the \(\text{TC}\) version via the cyclotomic trace. The author looks at the case of Laurent polynomials, and analyzes the effect of the \(\text{TC}\) transfer maps \[ t_n:\text{TC}(R[z, z^{-1}]) \to \text{TC}(R[z, z^{-1}]) \] coming from the inclusion \(z\mapsto z^n\). He defines the subgroup \(\pi_* \text{TC}(R[z, z^{-1}])^{\text{INV}}\) of \(\pi_* \text{TC}(R[z, z^{-1}])\) consisting of the classes which are invariant under all the \(t_n\), and shows that \[ \pi_{i-m}\text{C}(R) \simeq \pi_i(\text{TC}(R[z_1, z_1^{-1}, \dots, z_m, z_m^{-1}]^{\text{INV}} \] for all \(i\) and all \(m\geq 1\). He shows that if one defined lower \(\text{TC}\) groups in analogy with Bass's lower K groups, they would vanish below degree \(-1\), as do the homotopy groups of the spectrum \(\text{TC}\) in the usual definition.
