In this paper, the authors prove existence results for the equation \[ -\Delta_{H^n}u(x)= K(x)u(x)^{Q^*-1}, \quad x \in H^n, \] where \(\Delta_{H^n}\) is the sub-Laplacian on the Heisenberg group \(H^n\) and \(Q^*\) is the critical exponent for the embedding of the Folland-Stein Sobolev space in \(L^{Q^*}(H^n)\). Their results provide the existence of solutions for the Webster scalar curvature problem on \(H^n\) and on the unit sphere \(S^{2n+1}\). They assume that \(K\) is cylindrically symmetric. More precisely, they consider the cases where \(K(z,t) = k(|z|,t)\), and the case where \(K\) is close to a constant, that is \(K(z,t) = 1+ rk(|z|,t)\) for \(|r|\) sufficiently small. The results rely on variational techniques, on a concentration-compactness lemma, and on the finite dimensional reduction method due to Ambrosetti and Badiale.
