On the field-theoreticity of homomorphisms between the multiplicative groups of number fields (Q2509468)

The author gives an intrinsic characterization of those homomorphisms \(K^*\longrightarrow L^*\) of multiplicative groups of algebraic number fields \(K,L\), which are induced by monomorphisms of \(K\) in \(L\). This is an analogue of an earlier result of \textit{M. Saïdi} and \textit{A. Tamagawa} [Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 45, No. 1, 135--186 (2009; Zbl 1188.14016)], and [Algebra Number Theory 5, No. 2, 131--184 (2011; Zbl 1235.14026)] who considered the case of function fields.
