In this paper, the authors disprove the subshift conjecture which says that, for a minimal and aperiodic subshift of Verblunsky coefficients, the common essential support of the associated measure has zero Lebesgue measure. Then, they prove a weak version of the subshift conjecture related to discrete Schrödinger operators; they show that the density of states measure is purely singular under some assumptions. They also consider discrete, one-frequency quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators to show that the density of states measure is singular as well.
