Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of positive characteriztic \(p\) and \(H\) a connected Hopf algebra of dimension \(p^3\). Let \(P(H)\) be the restricted Lie algebra of primitives in \(H\). Then the subalgebra \(K\), generated by its primitive space, is the universal restricted enveloping algebra of \(P(H)\). In particular the dimension of \(K\) is equal to one of the integers \(p\), \(p^2\), \(p^3\). It is shown that \(H\) as an algebra is generated by three elements \(x,y,z\). A complete classification is given if \(\dim K=p=2\). In other cases a classification is obtained under some minor restrictions. There are found new series of Hopf algebras of dimension \(p^3\).
